Essential Daily Carry is a conversational take on products and trends in the EDC space. Everyday Carry has long been personified by the “pocket dump” Instagram post. A snapshot of someone’s daily carry before they head out the door. Ranging from grimy gear to carefully curated color matching items, these posts fueled an explosion in the EDC Instagram space that then bubbled over into forums, websites, and YouTube content. Sure, there were still EDC blogs and forums that featured the written word as the means of communication, but they took a back seat to the more vibrant form of social media. Everyday Karas has multiple social media accounts that will continue to feature that type media content; this space will focus on writing about products that represent the “durable tool for everyday carry use with a return to the basic fundamentals of function and design”.
That means taking a long look at the task before deciding on the tool. What do you need your pocket carry to accomplish? Is a $400 multi-tool the right piece of carry gear? We want to identify that center section of the Venn diagram that takes into account quality, price, and daily tasks. If an item falls into that section, we want to talk about it, and this blog will be the place where we talk about those items or trends that we’ve encountered recently.
The initial posting schedule will likely be every month as we begin to flesh things out with our own product, get our hands on some gear to test in our own pockets, and come up with a plan of attack. But we’re not approaching this as a task with a timer, rather a natural conversation when an interesting topic comes up. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy the content as much as we enjoy writing it. We’ll be back soon, with the first official post.
