The basik is a rollerball pen designed, manufactured, and priced with the intention of being carried in the pocket or purse of anyone who uses a pen.

Our initial idea was to design and manufacture the most cost-effective fully-machined pen on the market. Relying on decades of expertise, the basik rollerball pen is the only fully-machined rollerball pen, made in the USA that has a price tag of $29. We didn't want to just disrupt the market; we wanted to flip it on its head. How'd we do?

The Render K, introduced via Kickstarter in 2011, was our initial foray into machined writing instruments. This capped rollerball pen was designed around the idea that it wouldn't look out of place in a toolbox in the 1960s. Over the years, it went through multiple iterations before it was discontinued and retired; however, it was foundational in the success of Karas Pen Co and Everyday Karas.

The TKO Pry Bar is a simple pocket tool we designed to use up grade 5, 6AL-4V titanium rod drops when we machined our pens. Each full bar would leave behind 4-5 inches of titanium, and instead of scrapping them our shop foreman designed this pry bar. It will be moved from the Karas Pen Co brand to Everyday Karas, redesigned slightly, and re-released in the future as the TI-bAR.

We love collaborating with other American makers, big and small, and one of our favorite "partners in crime" is Mark Dwight at Rickshaw Bagworks. Rickshaw is based out of San Francisco and they design and manufacture some of the best everyday carry bags, writing instrument cases, and other stitched goods on the market. This custom Rickshaw Waldo Pen Case was a collaboration we did years ago celebrating our 2017 anniversary release; it's still a fan favorite and we have plans to do a similar version for Everyday Karas.

The basik.001 rollerball was physical realization of the Everyday Karas philosophy - designing and manufacturing a fully-machined, American made everyday carry writing instrument for less than $30. We put our heads together, harnessed decades of machining knowledge, and came up with the basik rollerball pen. A simple pen, designed to be as failure free as we can make it, perfect for anyone who wants to get rid of disposable pens, and the best part, it has a lifetime warranty.

Over the years, we've become experts in sourcing unique anodize and Cerakote options for our pens at Karas Pen Co. We had an opportunity to do a few basik.003 pens in a brand new full matte olive anodize. This was the first anodized basik we sold with a complementary brass button, this colorway looks incredible. The anodize finish has a grippy texture due to a fine sandblasting pass over the raw pens. This finish is truly unique because we don't have the option to repeat it in the future, as such this release is a Limited Edition and will be retired when it sells out.
