250th RWB basik.000 Limited Edition details

We've commissioned an amazing collaboration with Aaron at Area15 Cerakote for a custom painted and hand-distressed red, white, and blue basik.000 with laser-engraved stars and stripes added to complete the pen. The basik.000 is our "canvas" basik without any machined grip or body profile. This is the starting point of all basik pens and was specifically chosen for this release to feature this custom artwork. Aaron used a multi-step Cerakote process including stencil work and several trips into the oven to cure these pens while creating a red lower and blue upper portion. Once these were back in the shop, we used our laser with a custom setup to etch a very thin portion of the Cerakote away, allowing the stars and stripes to have a silvery-white color rather than the dark grey often seen with laser etched Cerakote. This low-temp, low-power process takes longer, but gives the 250th RWB basik.000 Limited Edition a stylized distressed flag look and feel. We are using white Delrin sliders, raw aluminum buttons, and stainless steel clips and fasteners for this release.

This is the most in-depth Cerakote collaboration we've attempted to date, and we are releasing these as a custom pre-order (see specifics below in bold) purchase window. Pre-orders for this item will begin at Noon (Arizona time) on 6/29/26 and will end at Noon (Arizona time) on 7/3/26. The pens will be sent to paint on 7/6/26, Aaron will complete paint and return the pens by 7/10/26, and shipping will begin on 7/13/26. THIS ITEM IS EXCLUDED FROM MOST COUPON CODES.

*PRE-ORDER, CUSTOM PAINTED ITEMS ARE MADE-TO-ORDER, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, NO RETURN OR REFUNDS. EACH PEN IS ENGRAVED USING CUSTOM ART CREATED IN-HOUSE, PAINT IS APPLIED IN A MULTI-STEP PROCESS AND DISTRESSED BY HAND.*

Did you lose a button, piston, or spring? We now have a basik parts kit available.

Everyday Karas unofficially launched on social media in 2017 via collaborations with EDC (everyday carry) small makers and influencers, Everyday Karas is now officially launched via this webstore and corresponding social media platforms. Everyday Karas is a return to the foundation of machined writing instruments designed and manufactured for everyday carry use. Designs take a step back from complexity of form to focus more fully on function. Everyday Karas products will feature minimal parts in an effort to reduce failures and maintenance while focusing on streamlining the manufacturing process with the use of our CNC machining technology. Minimalism and simplicity are NOT the goal; rather they are two reference points as we journey back to the basics of our design language and process will shape the product and categories Everyday Karas focuses on. Everyday Karas will redefine the durable writing instrument for everyday carry use by first identifying what an everyday carry pen "needs" to accomplish. The design and manufacturing will follow suit benefiting heavily from the advances we’ve made in the last thirteen years.

Karas Pen Co is the sister-company of Everyday Karas, founded in 2008 under the Karas Kustoms, LLC formation, and later rebranded Karas Pen Co in 2016. Karas Pen Co began designing and manufacturing pens in 2011 that were initially launched via multiple successful Kickstarter campaigns. Over time, Karas Pen Co migrated away from crowd-funding new pens designs, and focused solely on launching new products directly via the Karas Pen Co website. Karas Pen Co designs focus on machined pens, primarily made out of aluminum, brass, and copper with designs that appeal to a variety of customers from the EDC community to the fountain pen community. Karas Pen Co features a vast array of styles, colors, materials, pen types, refill compatibility, and features that make up a vast and growing collection of products and models.
